The biggest problem most people face is lack of motivation, procrastination and inability to persist on the task at hand.
I talk about 2 things all the time, and these 2 steps can help in maintaining persistence
- Break it down. Macro goals, Micro quotas. Take your big goal and cut it down to small actionable steps
- Write it down. Track your daily activities for one week. Have time diary of activities you do and when. Your routines define your success.
#1 take your big goal which may seem impossible and break it down to small easy steps. For example, if you want to write 400 page novel, it many seem as too much work.
But can you write one page today? If not, can you write one sentence? Next day, can you also write one more sentence? If you write just 1 page a day and have day off here and there, in one and half years you will be done with the novel.
#2 Purpose of this is to visually see how much time you spend on not value adding activities. Write down every thing that you do and time when you do it. Just for one week, that’s enough. And you will realize how much time you are actually wasting that should be put into good use.
